On 31 July François Leleux returns to the BBC Proms for the first time in seven years to perform Strauss’s Oboe Concerto with the Aurora Orchestra under Nicholas Collon.

When Leleux last performed Strauss in the UK with the CBSO under Collon in 2009, the Birmingham Post wrote, “… [T]here were certainly wonders in François Leleux’ account with the CBSO of the autumnal, delicious Oboe Concerto by Richard Strauss. His phrasing was mellifluous, and as open-air as the composer’s beloved Bavarian Alps; …flourishes danced as though from panpipes, and he painted piquant shades of colour.”

The concert on 31 July is broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and for catch up for 30 days on iPlayer. François, Collon and Aurora also perform the same programme at Cambridge Summer Music on 29 July.
