In the Instrumentalist of the Year categories, Martin Fröst wins the Clarinet award for his debut Sony Classical album Roots and Sol Gabetta’s Vasks: Presence, also on Sony Classical, wins the Cello award.

Bertrand Chamayou’s Ravel: Complete Works for Solo Piano ERATO recording wins the Solo Recording (20th/21st century music) Piano award.

Riccardo Minasi features on four ECHO Klassik award-winning albums this year. His Haydn: Concertos album with Maxim Emylyanychev (Warner Classics) wins in the Concert Recording (19th century music) category and his Leonardo Vinci: Catone in Utica (Decca) with Max Emanuel Cencic wins the Opera Recording (17th/18th century music) award. Minasi also conducts Edgar Moreau in the cellist’s Giovincello – Cello Concertos: Haydn, Vivaldi, Platti, Boccherini and Graziani (Erato) album which wins the Newcomer (Cello) award and he features on the Scaramanzia recording with Rolf Lislevand (naïve) which wins in the Chamber Music Recording (17th/18th century music) category. The Haydn, Leonardo Vinci and Edgar Moreau albums were all recorded with Il Pomo d’Oro.

A further Concert Recording award goes to François Leleux – he wins an award for ‘Music up to and including 18th century’ for his album of Hummel & Haydn: Prince Esterházy Concertos with Münchener Kammerorchester (Sony Classical).

Each of the awards will be presented at a gala event on 9 October 2016 at the Konzerthaus in Berlin and broadcast on television via ZDF.
